It is said that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day - so whether you are one of the 36 million Americans who can claim Irish heritage, or you simply love to celebrate this festive holiday, it is time to go green! March 17th is St. Patrick's Day and Trias Flowers has all the green you'll need to dress up your home or office.
Did You Know? Although many might associate the 4-leaf clover with St. Patrick's Day, it was actually the far more common three-leaf shamrock which was used by Patrick to teach his Irish converts about the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. Should you wish to find a 4-leaf clover, you will need to invoke the "luck o the Irish" - there is only one for every 10,000 clover stems that grow. Read More about Florals for St. Patrick’s Day »

The celebration originated in the 1st century, known in Rome as Fat Tuesday (although there were similar pagan festivals for hundreds of years prior). Tuesday was reserved for gluttonous feasting before the Lenten period of fasting and penitence that would begin on the following day, Ash Wednesday. The custom caught on across Europe and in France, it was translated to "Mardi Gras". When the French explorer Bienville disembarked in North America, he named the land "Pointe du Mardi Gras". He also established several other French settlements in the territory that would become Alabama and Louisiana. French settlers immediately began Mardi Gras festivities, including masked balls and opulent dinners. Over the course of the next 150 years, celebrants added night time parades illuminated by flaming torches, complete with revelers dancing in full costume, marching bands, and decorated floats.
Did You Know? In some places, it is illegal to ride a Mardi Gras float without a mask. Read More about Celebrating Mardi Gras in Miami »

Floral Design Day was established in 1995 as an homage to Carl Rittner, who was the founder of the School of Floral Design in Boston. Recognized as both a pioneer and a visionary in the industry, Rittner was committed to elevating the discipline of floral design to an art form, or for people to see the artists who worked in the floral medium to be seen for the talent and creativity they brought to their jobs every day. Many professionals in the floral industry can trace their legacy back to Rittner, making this day to honor him, a day to honor all floral designers across the country.
